Ammiragliato Open Day

June 1st is my birthday, but it is also the date chosen as the official birth day of the Star Trek Italian Club in 1986. Ans yes! that's a coincidence - I was not a member of the club (I didn't even know it existed) in 1986, and nobody from the club knew me at the time. 

On this day I decided to skip my birthday (as I always do, but I don't mind) and celebrate STIC's anniversary - 40 years of history of trekkers in Italy - with an "oper day" of my house, which for more than 30 years has been the heart of this community of fans.

I have prepared lots of things to show, I built a small shelving unit to display some of those objects and I invited friends to come with posts on Facebook and Telegram (the two social media I use the most).

We met late in the morning, had a quick tour, went to lunch in a nearby pizzeria and then we started to dwelve into some historic documents and stuff.

I won't say or show you here any of the stuff, because... you have to come next time. Yes, there will be a next time, and a next and a next. Hopefully I'll be able to put things on display in a better way every time, although it will never be the "museum" I would like to create.

In the meanwhile I heartfully thank who's come to celebrate this time: Giuseppina, Loris, Diego and Anna (with me in the photo) - it's been a pleasure and a honour to welcome you at the "Ammiragliato"!

Il 1° giugno è il mio compleanno, ma è anche la data scelta come data di nascita ufficiale dello Star Trek Italian Club nel 1986. E sì, è una coincidenza: non ero iscritta al club (non sapevo nemmeno che esistesse) nel 1986, e nessuno del club mi conosceva all'epoca.

In questo giorno ho deciso di non festeggiare il mio compleanno (come faccio sempre, ma non mi dispiace) e celebrare l'anniversario dello STIC - 40 anni di storia dei trekker in Italia - con un "open day" a casa mia, che da oltre 30 anni è il cuore pulsante di questa comunità di fan.

Ho preparato un sacco di cose da mostrare, ho costruito una piccola scaffalatura per esporre alcuni di questi oggetti e ho invitato gli amici a partecipare tramite post su Facebook e Telegram (i due social media che uso di più).

Ci siamo incontrati a tarda mattinata, abbiamo fatto un breve giro, siamo andati a pranzo in una pizzeria lì vicino e poi abbiamo iniziato a immergerci in alcuni documenti storici e altro materiale. Non vi dirò né vi mostrerò nulla qui, perché... dovete venire la prossima volta. Sì, ci sarà una prossima volta, e un'altra ancora. Spero di riuscire a esporre le cose in modo migliore ogni volta, anche se non sarà mai il "museo" che vorrei creare.

Nel frattempo ringrazio di cuore chi è venuto a festeggiare questa volta: Giuseppina, Loris, Diego e Anna (con me nella foto); è stato un piacere e un onore accogliervi all'"Ammiragliato"!
